MacOSX の定番メディアプレイヤー。いつの間にかアプリケーションとしては、ひっそりといなくなっていた QuickTime プレーヤー。映像を見せるサービスをメインとしているところが提供している互換プレーヤーも良かったけれども、ずっとフリーソフトウェアで次から次へ変化のめまぐるしいフォーマットに常に対応してきたのが VLC だった。
インタフェイスこそ、スキンを誰か作っても居るだろうかと思ってしまいたいくらいの時期もありましたが今としてはファインダーと違和感のないデザインは結果的にはずっとずっと元から未来を見ていたということなのかしら。飾り付けた次にはフラットデザインが戻ってくると革新があったのかしら。確かに動作中に華美なインタフェイスは集中できないものですからね。
